Forever Red

Sargent, John Singer, A Dinner Table at Night, 1884
 Blood red walls
surround my beautiful wife
of so many long and youthful years.

I grow old
in her wake, while she stays
as young and cold as the day we met.

 And now I step
into my hollow grave on this,
my last breathing day of warmth and love.

Leaving her
to continue living in her innocence
forever young, forever red, forever alone.
