Every terrifying step,
required and forever forward,
leads me into the bitter unknown,
across lands foreign and amazingly strange,
down lanes untamed; overgrown with thorns,
through dense fogs filled with unexplained desires,
into the unforgiving jungle where evil lashes out for the kill.
Is this the only path for me?
Did I miss a turn somewhere along the way?
Perhaps I can start over,
close my eyes and count to ten,
find myself back in my mother’s arms,
no worries, no expectations.
It is cold here,
the closer I come to the end,
the end of the unknown.
Do I rejoice or cry, I know not.
