A Moment with Him

He stood
before me… capturing my eyes
with expressions of longing,
smoldering somewhere in the recess of his mind. I stood
motionless… unwilling to cross a river
not mine to divide… waiting
for a bridge to be built by him.

His fingers
touched my skin and everything
came to a halt… time stood still;
I was frozen in heat.

A smile
became kisses of passion, a word
became the taste of skin;
boundaries were thrown aside.

Only places
to be and people to see
tore embrace from embrace;
time continues to defy our completeness.

    … I prefer the closeness of words more than anything else.
