Michael takes us through making a smokeless camp stove and along the way, we have a few issues to overcome. In the end, he brings in a little help from Igor.
Check out the video below to watch how we eventually overcome the issues and end up smokeless. This is a fun time!
This two-part video series covers a wonderful morning with the chickens while I learned a lesson or seventeen. I left the water out all night and it froze up solid and they don’t eat cabbage very quickly and leaving it out all night is a no-no. I’m still measuring their food to determine how much they eat every day and so far, I’m thinking 3-4 cups which give me an idea on budgeting. FeedingandPettingchickens
Later that same day it was coop cleaning time! Well… coop, kennel, & run cleaning day… very busy time in my chicken yard. The ladies try to help me… or get in my way!
Have you ever worked with a passive aggressive supervisor that your employer would not or could not fire? That has happened to me along with other co-workers who all complained of an abusive relationship with our supervisor.
In this particular example, the abusive person finally quit and I’m fairly certain that is what the organization was shooting for rather than actually doing something to help all involved.
There were a few videos posted this weekend primarily because Spit Fire had her very own “first egg video” just like Trinity (spoiler alert… Miss Cloud’s video is coming out next weekend).
In this first video, we get to witness the neurotic nature of some chickens when they lay eggs. Some of them simply drop the egg and go about their day. Other chickens will sit on them for a bit just for good measure. And then there is Spit Fire who, on a normal day, can take quite a long time to finally let loose of her egg. The nest must be perfect and it must be the one of her choosing. Spit Fire Lays Her First Egg
In the second video, I spend a bit more time on camera while I put together perches within the chicken kennel we put together a while back. They really need places to jump to and ways of getting off the ground as well as getting away from each other. Chicken Kennel Perches
In this final video, I make some pecking order observations and determine that one of the perches is just a bit too high… Phoenix biffs it.
The newest poetry video series focuses around animals and nature. The first video in the set to come out is calle And They’re Off. It is written by Mary Lou Healy Read by Phenix JiRA

In the first video for this weekend, I did the morning ‘chicken chores’ backwards and the ladies took full advantage! I spent my usual relaxing morning trying to get them back into the coop! Then I had a brilliant idea for a dirt bath and bought a used tire. Chasing Chickens
Later that same day they had a dust bath and it was beautiful and dreamy. If you listen close enough you can hear them cooing. This is found in the second video posted and in it Miss Cloud spends time on my lap and she has super soft feathers.
Now, in the third video for the weekend, things get a little crazy!! I asked Michael to help with the chickens and that started a weird chain of events. Relaxing Day Turned Upside Down
The final video for this weekend is very enjoyable as we watch them do their dust bath and cooing the entire time.
Michael shows us an easy method for rendering beef fat in order to make great tasting beef tallow.
In another video he created bone broth which contributed to the creation of the tallow! In a future video, we create beef jerky that is made even better when you spread the tallow on it!
In this video I go over the way humans can ‘choose’ to forget day-to-day events or chores as well as things from the past. Sometimes we simply forget things but then there are moments when we block past events out due to trauma or even embarrassment.
For example, I can’t remember to exercise (probably just don’t want to do it).
There was also the bucking bronco horse I rode when I was 9 years old. My memory of the event is way different than accounts of those who witnessed me riding the crazed horse all over the ranch.
Then there was the historical event in earth’s history that I was taken to but have no recollection of at all. I this particular case, I believe it was due to the fact I was 12-13 years old and couldn’t care less what the earth may or may not do so long as it did not affect me.
In this 3-part series, I take us through an entire Paint n Roll season to the very end where we customize a new dice set. Check out the 3 videos for ‘how’ it’s done and see if you would have made your dice the way I did.
Today we had a visitor who shook things up a bit. This video is all chickens, music and a little bit of a little squirrel that nearly had a chicken land on him.
Spit Fire is trying to get everyone in trouble today! It’s wet and slushy and gross but I find a lap chicken, record a video with my chin, watch Trinity fly at a squirrel, & get the flock block!
Today I TRIED to introduced beef bones to the chickens and they weren’t all that happy about it. We also see some of the first ‘witnessed’ pecking order moments for the ladies. Miss Cloud is stepping up and giving Trinity a hard time.
