In this first video for That Thought, I bring up a movie scene I can’t seem to forget that was in a movie I can’t seem to remember.
The absurdity of the scene still bugs me to this day but hell if I can recall the movie or find it online with the words ‘robbers tell patrons to disrobe to underwear’.

Preparing for the REALLY cold weather that’s on it’s way soon. It’s set to be zero degrees (give or take… like that matters). This is my attempt to keep out the snow and prevent the water from freezing while also having some fun moments with the ladies.
Trinity is the first chicken in my flock to lay an egg! Her first egg was on January 31st and she hasn’t looked back. This video shows her along with some music and nature. If you wish to see the full video with me panicking and trying to set up her nest, go here.

The winds were so strong they knocked over the portable run! On day 100, I took the ladies out and they all proceeded to be naughty. Parkour Chick on the coop & my shoulder, pecking at my skull… Spit Fire pooping on the storage box… the others on the coop and other various naughty things!
I have several videos created and uploaded for future posting however I have decided to release them quicker than originally intended.
Literally, I have been filming my five chickens since the day them came home to their brooder box in the garage. Today they are at day 147 which is 21 weeks old. The videos currently published are only at day 98 so I’m a tad bit behind the present day.
In an effort to bring us all up to speed, I am publishing them daily (rather than the 3 per week I was doing). The main reason for this is because one of my chickens, Trinity, finally laid her first egg and I want that to be published soon.
I suppose, in the long run, it doesn’t really matter exactly when I put the videos into circulation but I like things to be real and ‘now’.

As another note to add here… I am continuing to publish poetry reading and gaming videos on their particular channels (phenix jira gaming and phenix jira readings). Due to the three channels and all of the videos, I am beginning to get bogged down. Not complaining, just commenting.

This poem was put together as a tribute to my 5 chickens who experienced their very first snow day ever. They really wanted out and eventually got their wish. Because I’m so far behind in creating and uploading their videos, I can safely tell you there is much more snow to come in this, their first winter.

The playground is covered in snow
Not fun; this really does blow
We want to play… make the snow go away!
We’ll attack in mass, if we can’t eat grass.
Snow, snow… you better go away…
And get off our fun toys today!
Even our sun spot is better cold…
But JiRa can fix it, we are told.
Get busy and remove the yuck…
So our day won’t totally suck.
Ladies, give the sun a chance…
Now it’s melted and you can dance.

We’re building a frame to attach a future chicken tunnel to the existing coop/run and the new dog kennel (aka chicken kennel). The project began by building the dog kennel which is being used to house 5 chickens. This will attach to the coop/run they already live in which is 4′ x 10′. With the kennel, they will have an additional 6′ x 10′ giving them a very large chicken run with little to complain about (I hope).

In September 2021, I decided to make the ultimate plunge. Okay, maybe not the ‘ultimate’ plunge, but still a plunge, none the less. I prepared for and purchased 5 baby chickens (aka chicks) and brought them home to my garage. Thus began the adventure of a life-time. Okay, maybe not a ‘life-time’, but still an adventure for sure!
I began filming and eventually uploaded those creations to YouTube (and possibly other platforms yet to come). The videos began on 9/28/21 and I will be linking those videos here.
In the videos below, I focus on the decision, the preparation and the first day. Check out the videos below and follow along in the playlist which starts at the beginning. In other words, you could push ‘play’ and enjoy the adventure with very little effort. 😉
In the coming weeks and months, I will post links to some of the videos (probably not all of them) to keep the blog world updated. Comments can be left under the videos or on my MeWe page.
